Description

E10 was the name of the electric locomotive with which the German Federal Railroad made a major leap forward during the early years of the Economic Miracle. In 1956, series production began of this locomotive, capable of speeds of 140 km/h (87.5 mph) and delivering 5,000 horsepower. These reliable and elegant locomotives soon appeared on DB tracks in their hundreds.

In 1965, Marklin introduced a model of the E10 that gleamed with the same ruggedness and reliability as its full-size prototype. Excellent detailing, combined with proven drive technology and a heavy die-cast body, made the Marklin E10 a sales success. At that time, however, Marklin did not produce a model of the “Bügelfalte” (“pant crease”) E10.3, nor the blue-and-beige variant designed for 160 km/h (100 mph) operation on the new premium Rheingold and Rheinpfeil trains.

Now, a long-standing wish of many Marklin enthusiasts has finally been fulfilled: a cobalt blue and beige retro “Bügelfalte” (“pant crease”) version of the class E10.12. This outstanding new model incorporates the latest technology, while its exterior is formed from solid die-cast metal, faithfully evoking the golden era of the German Federal Railroad and the legendary metal models from Göppingen.

Prototype: German Federal Railroad (DB) class E10.12 electric locomotive Bügelfalte / Pants Crease. Cobalt blue / beige basic paint scheme, as a Rheingold locomotive. Version with 5 lamps on the ends, continuous ventilation bands with rounded ends, continuous rain gutters and buffer cladding and skirting. Locomotive road number E10 1265. The locomotive looks as it did around 1962/63.
